For the period of martial law in our country and within two months after its abolition, the fare in Lutsk busses that run on public city routes in normal traffic mode will be 14 UAH.
For pupils of secondary schools in Lutsk community the fare will be 7 UAH for one trip with a student card.
The relevant decision was approved on June 15, 2022 by the members of the Executive Committee of Lutsk City Council.
Business entities carrying out the transportation of passengers by buses on public city routes have applied to the City Council for an increase in the tariff (by providing the relevant calculations): Best Lenad Group LLC (routes 2, 3, 10, 25, 30, 9, 12 , 24, 32), VTP Sunrise LTD LLC and individual-entrepreneur Fedik B.V. (route No. 19 and No. 28), Mykhalyuk Yu.P. (route No. 11), Tymoshchuk M.S. (route No. 31).
The increase in tariffs was influenced by many factors. The Head of the Economic Policy Department, Borys Smal, briefly analyzed the main factors that influenced the cost increase.
In particular, in the current tariff, the cost of diesel fuel is set at 26 UAH per liter. At the beginning of June this year, the average cost of diesel fuel is 58 UAH / liter. At the same time, at some petrol stations with a sufficient amount of fuel the cost is 64 UAH / liter. Thus, the cost of fuel increased at least 2.23 times.
The cost of basic spare parts and automotive oil has also increased. Tires have increased in price by 25-40 %, motor oils by 40-45 %, and rechargeable batteries by 35-40 %.
The cost of the tariff was also affected by the increase in the minimum wage which in October 2021 was 6.000,00 UAH, starting from December 2022 – 6.500,00 UAH, and from October 2022 it is planned to grow to 6.700,00 UAH.
It should also be taken into account that the inflation rate in Volyn region in 2022 in comparison with December 2021 was 109.7 % (as of May 1, 2022) Thus, the estimated fare for the transportation of passengers by buses on public city routes in normal traffic mode is 14,01 UAH.
Lutsk City Mayor Ihor Polishchuk noted that all these factors force us to reconsider the bus fare.
“Unfortunately, today we cannot influence the cost of fuel or spare parts, which have grown as the dollar rate has increased (spare parts are mainly imported from abroad). We have to give people the maximum alternative, therefore, according to my order, the number of trolleybuses will be cardinally increased in the amount of 42 to 52 units, depending on the amount of passenger traffic and time of the day. Today, a trolleybus fare is much lower than bus fare. People will be able to use this type of transport as enough trolleybuses will run on the route”, - Ihor Polishchuk emphasized. We want to provide a maximum alternative to people, so according to my order the number of trolleybuses produced will be drastically increased from 42 to 52 vehicles, depending on the number of passengers and the time of day. Today the trolleybus is considerably cheaper than the shuttle bus. People will be able to use this mode of transport and there will be enough of it," said Igor Polischuk.
This decision enters into force on June 16, 2022.
